Songwriter Evening is built for listening. Not background noise, not a busy pub corner — but a room where the music comes first.
From 7:30pm, you’ll hear a series of original songs performed live by talented local songwriters from across North Wales and beyond. These are not covers or familiar standards — they’re real songs, written and shared by the people performing them.
If you enjoy discovering new music at its source, this is where it happens.
Many of the artists who play the evening are featured in our Showcase section and on our Spotify playlist, so you can keep listening long after the night ends.
Arrive before 7:30pm, take your seat, and be part of an audience that’s there for one reason: to listen.
If you write your own songs this is your room.
Songwriter Evening follows an open mic format, but with a clear focus — original music only. No covers, no exceptions. The audience is there to hear your work, giving you the rare opportunity to perform in a space where songwriting is genuinely valued.
The aim is for each songwriter to perform at least two songs, with the possibility of more if time allows.
This isn’t a typical gig environment. There’s no background chatter, no distractions — just a listening audience and a professional setup designed to let your songs land exactly as they should. With high-quality sound, experienced engineering, and excellent acoustics, everything is in place to support your performance.
If you’d like to be featured beyond the night itself performers can also appear in our Showcase and be added to the Spotify playlist, helping your music reach a wider audience.
The evening begins at 7pm with performer registration, with music starting at 7:30pm. Please be seated before the music begins so nothing is missed.
Entry is just £3 per person, with all proceeds going towards the upkeep of Ysceifiog Village Hall. No performers or organisers are paid.
Songwriter Evening exists to support and celebrate original music — creating a space where songwriters can share their work and audiences can truly engage with it.
The event is proudly supported by Jay Reigns Recording Studio, Denbigh, reflecting a shared commitment to high-quality sound and the craft of songwriting.
